Overview
Racing at CSS is all about being a team player! Sailors will learn how to take their sailing adventure to the next level and get experience with advanced concepts, including mastering the race course.
We provide both summer racing, where many participants take their first steps in sailboat racing, and Interscholastic racing, where participants can join or launch a team for their high schools and compete locally, regionally, and nationally.
These teams build off of the same core principles that the Learn-to-Sail Adventure camp does, with the addition of real hands-on leadership experience and camaraderie that comes from being part of a sports team.
Our coaches are knowledgeable and highly experienced, and our program boasts Olympic contenders, college athletes, and national champions in many different boats. But more importantly, our current and alumni sailors all carry the invaluable skills and lessons they learned from our racing teams with them into their adult lives, regardless of their place on the leaderboard.

YES! Sailing is a non contact sport and sailors are taught how to sail safely before they are allowed to race. Sailors are always supervised on the water and all of our coaches are trained in first aid. Our CEO – Dr Lynn Frikker – is also an Emergency Physician.

New sailors and middle schoolers practice from 4 – 7 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Monday and Wednesday from 4-7 pm is for more advanced sailors.
Drop off and pick up is at the Sailing Center.

At 6:30 pm, parent volunteers provide an after-practice meal for the sailors while the coaches debrief. You can partner with another family if you wish.
Drop off and pick up is always at the Sailing Center:
Base layers, boots, gloves, hat, dry suit and life jacket are needed. Also bring a change of clothes from your school clothes to practice. Our official equipment supplier partner, Jim’s Locker Room Sports is also on site with a wide selection of sailing gear for sale at a discount to CSS member sailors.
NO! The bronze level classification is for novice sailors and is designed to teach you about the program and how to sail. If you have sailing experience, our coaches will assess whether to offer you a place at a higher level.
